We needed to get up slightly earlier today, but as we weren’t planning to attempt the Neptune flight I had time for a 6.5km run, down the Great Glen way to Laggan swing bridge and back on the other side of the canal. The rain held off and the scenery was just glorious. What a treat.
We headed through the Laggan lock and out into Loch Lochy, which was beset with random gusts of 15kt or more from many different directions. Gairlochy seemed much safer and was a good spot to moor for lunch. We were out of bread, but I managed to concoct a warm potato and sausage salad. The lock keeper was not impressive, placing us so close to the front that we had to haul back on the stern rope to stop the lock gate fouling our anchor.
On on the short distance to Banavie above the Neptune locks. By chance we were immediately astern of Nightsong, owned by the president of the CA, And we enjoyed a drink with him and his wife before night. Test run 14
